What is an “oxymoron”?

Merriam-Webster’s definition: oxymoron \ahk-sih-MOR-ahn\ noun. : a combination of contradictory or incongruous words (such as cruel kindness); broadly: something (such as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements.⁠⠀

Oxymorons add humor or drama to speech or writing, allowing you to make a funny or pointed remark.⁠ I have to say, my favorite oxymoron is “seriously funny.”

Top ten misspelled words in the English language

Spelling mistakes are common, but they make you look, well…not-so-smart. They’re awkward in a professional context, and sending an email or document with spelling errors doesn’t put you in the best possible light. Lack of attention to detail shows evidence of education, or lack thereof, and is unprofessional. If spelling isn’t your strength, use spell check or dust off that dictionary! All of the words in this list (except one) will most likely be used in business correspondence or a writing project at some point, soon. Number nine is so basic it shouldn’t even be on this list! You definitely don’t want to be judged by your spelling inabilities. Be sure to make note of these common spelling errors if you’re a writer, blogger, virtual assistant, or student!

Books or E-books?

Are you like me, reading multiple books at once? I absolutely can’t wait to finish one to begin another. I excitedly bounce back and forth, anxious for the next scene and chapter in each. Both of my parents had two books going at once, so this is normal reading behavior for me. I’m currently reading out of a book as well as a Kindle. Books or e-books? I say, there’s a time and place for both! I found an interesting article written a few years ago titled “Books vs. e-books: The science behind the best way to read.” No doubt it still applies today.
